JURUPA VALLEY, Calif. (KTLA) – Firefighters contained yet another wildfire near the Santa Ana River in Riverside County Monday night that prompted evacuation warnings for nearby homes.
Crews with the Riverside Fire Department reportedly responded to the one-acre Jurupa Fire in the area of the Santa Ana River bottom, west of Van Buren Boulevard just before 5 p.m., according to Watch Duty.
The brush fire was well established in the riverbed, spreading at a moderate rate by the time firefighters were able to access the flames.

A brush fire is seen in Jurupa on the evening of Jan. 13, 2025. (Sky5)Evacuation warnings were issued for residents north of Jurupa Avenue, east of Crest Avenue and west of Van Burn Boulevard. Authorities also encouraged residents who might need extra time to evacuate to leave immediately.
According to reporting from Gil Leyvas in Sky5, structure protection crews worked to protect nearby homes, while hand crews were seen attempting to contain the brusher with fire breaks before bulldozers entered the area to further mitigate the spread of flames.
Forward progress of the brush fire was reportedly stopped at around 6:30 p.m., though a difficult to reach area north of the river that was not threatening structures remained active.
This brush fire comes as officials with the National Weather Service announced a particularly dangerous situation with the return of strong Santa Ana winds in the 5 Freeway corridor in northern L.A. County and in the San Fernando Valley Tuesday morning through Wednesday.
In a 7 p.m. update, fire officials said Cal Fire and RFD were able to hold the vegetation fire to 2 acres and that “drift smoke will continue to be present in the adjacent region,” so resident should avoid the “involved areas.”
